Are you feeling lost in your life?

Do you feel unsure of who you are, what you want, or where you're going?

Maybe you're feeling disconnected or isolated, misunderstood or alone. Maybe you’re not sure who you are, compared with who you feel you need to be, or who you’ve always been?

Life can sometimes leave us feeling disconnected from ourselves as well as from the people around us. You might be questioning your choices, relationships, identity or the direction your life is taking. You might be going through a period of change, struggling to make sense of something you've experienced, or simply feeling that things aren't quite how you'd hoped they would be.

As humans, we are built for connection and belonging. But our experiences throughout our lives can sometimes leave us feeling as though we're alone in the world; as though no one really understands, or that we aren't worthy of the support we need. This can lead to us losing touch with what we genuinely need or want.

It is my hope that counselling can offer you a space to explore these experiences with compassion. Together, we can begin to make sense of the things that have brought you here, develop a deeper understanding of yourself, reconnect with your sense of belonging, and support you to become more fully you.

I’m Alex, a qualified Integrative Counsellor and Individual Member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy), who believes that everyone deserves a compassionate space to explore their experiences. I offer integrative counselling in person in Ramsgate, with online and telephone sessions also available.

I founded Becoming & Belonging because I recognise that life can sometimes leave us feeling disconnected; from ourselves, from others and from the person we might hope to become. I believe counselling can offer an opportunity to slow down, make sense of what we've experienced and begin to understand ourselves with compassion and curiosity.

As an integrative counsellor, I draw on different therapeutic approaches depending on your individual needs. I have a particular interest in psychodynamic counselling and the ways our past experiences can shape how we think, feel and relate in the present.

My approach to counselling is trauma-informed, disability-aware, neurodiversity-affirming and LGBTQ+ supportive. I aim to create a therapeutic relationship that feels both supportive and accessible for you, remaining responsive to who you are and what you need from counselling.

Before training as a counsellor, I spent over 10 years working across the arts, disability/neurodiversity support and mental health sectors. I bring this experience, alongside my counselling training and ongoing professional development, into my work with clients.

I aim to support you in finding a way forward that feels authentic to you.

About me

“Do I live my life according to my own deepest truths, or in order to fulfill someone else’s expectations?”
— Gabor Maté

I offer everyone a free 20-minute introductory phone or video call to talk about what has brought you to counselling and see whether we feel like a good fit. There is no obligation to continue; it’s an opportunity for us to get to know each other and for you to ask any questions you may have.

If we decide to move forward, I offer short or long-term weekly counselling sessions in person in Ramsgate, online via Zoom, or by telephone, giving you the flexibility to access counselling in a way that feels most comfortable and convenient for you.

Each counselling session lasts 50 minutes and costs £45.

Payments are made via bank transfer.

We’ll work collaboratively at a pace that feels right for you.

There is no pressure to talk about anything before you feel ready, and you can bring whatever feels important to you into our sessions.

Your time. Your pace. Your space.
